How OpenHands works with Ferentin

Ferentin detects OpenHands on managed endpoints, and because its LLM base URL is a first-class setting it can be pointed at the Ferentin gateway for cost accounting, policy evaluation and audit logging. Automatic OAuth client registration is not yet available, so connecting it to a Ferentin MCP endpoint is a manual step today.

  1. 1

    Register OpenHands

Add OpenHands as an AI application in the Ferentin admin console.

  2. 2

    Sign in with your identity

People authorize OpenHands with their enterprise identity, over OAuth.

  3. 3

    Every tool call governed

Ferentin checks each MCP call against your policies and logs it.

What you get

  • MCP client

OpenHands calls MCP servers, so it can reach your tools through Ferentin.

  • Agent skills

Reusable skills extend what the agent knows how to do.

  • AI assisted coding

Write and change code with an AI pair in the editor.

  • Terminal agent

An agent that works in your terminal, running commands and editing files.

  • LLM gateway routing

Model calls from OpenHands can route through the Ferentin LLM gateway.

About OpenHands

OpenHands is an open platform for coding agents, run either as a local terminal UI or as managed agents in the vendor's cloud. It is model-agnostic, routing completions through LiteLLM, and wires MCP servers from a local configuration file. Agent Skills load from the shared cross-agent convention path as well as its own legacy directories.
