Before you connect
- Contentsquare acquired Hotjar (2021) and Heap (2023); both are accessed through this single connector. There is no separate official Heap or Hotjar MCP server.
- OAuth supports PKCE (S256) and refresh tokens; access tokens expire after ~1 hour and are auto-refreshed. Scope: metrics. No revocation endpoint is advertised.
- The OAuth metadata also advertises the client_credentials grant for non-interactive/agent use; configure it as an OAuth client_credentials federated connection if you need agent mode.
- A free tier exists (Contentsquare/Hotjar Free plan, ~300 tool calls/month). Only analytics-data tool calls are metered; config/discovery calls are free.
1 more technical note
- Tools include list-projects, searchSegments, searchMappings, searchGoals, recommend* helpers, plus site/page metrics, exports, funnels, and journeys. The tool catalog populates on first live connection.
