Introducing Ferentin: An AI-Native Security Platform for LLMs, Agents and MCP Tools
I'm excited to finally share what we've been building: Ferentin, an AI-native security platform purpose-built for LLMs, Agents and the emerging world of MCP Tools.
After years in cybersecurity at companies like Okta and Zscaler, one thing became clear: AI is rewriting how work gets done but our security models haven't caught up. LLMs behave like new identities. MCP Tools behave like privileged APIs. And enterprises need zero-trust controls, telemetry and governance at the AI layer, not bolted on after the fact.
Ferentin is our answer to that gap.
Why "Ferentin"?
People ask about the name. Ferentin is a wordplay on three concepts at the heart of what we do:
- Inference: the core operation of every LLM interaction, where models reason over prompts and generate outputs. Securing inference means securing the AI itself.
- Intent: understanding what an agent or user is trying to accomplish so policies can be enforced based on purpose, not just pattern matching.
- Interaction: every exchange between a user, an agent, an LLM and an MCP tool is an interaction that crosses trust boundaries and needs governance.
Infer. Intent. Interact. The three pillars woven into the name and into the platform. Ferentin exists at the intersection of these three forces, providing the security fabric that ties them together.
Why now?
The enterprise AI stack is evolving faster than any technology shift we've seen. Teams are deploying LLMs for code generation, customer support, data analysis and decision-making. Agents are autonomously executing multi-step workflows. MCP servers are connecting AI to internal tools, databases and enterprise systems.
Yet the security posture for most of this infrastructure is startlingly thin. Shared API keys. No identity attribution. No policy enforcement. No unified telemetry. No compliance story.
This isn't a niche problem. It's a foundational gap and it's growing with every new model, agent and tool integration that enterprises adopt.
What we're building
Ferentin is a platform where AI security isn't an afterthought. It's the architecture itself.
- LLMs, Agents and MCP Toolchains are first-class security primitives. Not opaque API calls but managed entities with identity, permissions and audit trails.
- Identity-aware routing and policy enforcement happen in real time. Every request is authenticated, authorized and continuously validated. Zero Trust applied to the AI layer.
- Workload federation across providers. Route AI workloads intelligently across LLM providers based on policy, cost, compliance and capability requirements.
- Telemetry, cost visibility and compliance are embedded at the core. Not a dashboard bolted onto the side but instrumentation woven into every interaction.
- Enterprise-scale adoption without friction. AI can finally be adopted safely, at scale, without slowing teams down.
A new Security Service Edge for AI
If you've worked in network security, you'll recognize the pattern. A decade ago, SASE and SSE emerged because cloud adoption broke the traditional perimeter. Traffic no longer flowed through a central data center so security had to move to the edge. Identity-aware, policy-driven, everywhere.
The same shift is happening with AI. LLM traffic doesn't respect network boundaries. Agents make autonomous decisions across trust boundaries. MCP tools expose internal systems to AI-driven access patterns that firewalls and API gateways were never designed to handle.
Ferentin is building the Security Service Edge for AI. Not just wrappers or gateways but a security architecture designed for the AI era from the ground up.
Let's connect
If you're building with LLMs, agents or distributed tool ecosystems, or you're thinking about the security, compliance and identity challenges ahead, I'd love to connect.
Ferentin is just getting started. And there's a lot more to share.
